Many families travel far from home to get the specialized medical treatment they need for their seriously ill or injured children. The treatment may last a day, a month, or even longer.  It's a long time to be away from home, or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having their mom and dad close by for love and support.

Families are stronger when they are together, which helps in the healing process. Ronald McDonald Houses are a home away from home so families can stay close by their hospitalized child.  Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child - not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. By staying at a Ronald McDonald House, parents also can better communicate with their child's medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans when needed. They can just focus on the health of their child.

Here’s what a family can expect from Ronald McDonald House:

1. One private bedroom per family (room sizes vary, sleeping as many as 4 people, a limited number of roll-aways, air mattresses and pack-n-plays are available)
2. Private bathroom with shower
3. Kitchen, laundry, playroom facilities
4. TV lounges, living room, reading nook, outdoor porch, patio and grill
5. Pantry items, fresh foods and meals through donations from the community when available
6. Off street parking
7. Friendly and supportive environment with other families experiencing similar stresses and concerns
8. Access to a computer with Internet access and WiFi
9. Transportation is provided by hospital security to Via Christi Hospital at 929 N  St. Francis for those families staying at the Midtown House.  Transportation is provided by hospital security to Wesley Medical Center for those families staying at the Sleepy Hollow House.
